Southside Alliance 2025–2030 Strategic Plan
In April 2025, the Board of Directors of The Southside Alliance met for a facilitated retreat to create a new five-year strategic plan. This plan sets the course for preserving and enhancing the Southside through three central goals:
1. Property Advocacy
Advocate for policies and programs that protect single-family homes and reduce the conversion of houses into multi-family rentals.
Address neglected or problem properties through focused block-by-block improvement efforts.
Partner with local banks and city leaders to incentivize homeownership and reinvestment.
2. Organizational Growth & Capacity Building
Expand board membership to bring in diverse skills and community voices.
Increase household and business memberships while better defining member benefits.
Strengthen long-term sustainability by seeking grants and exploring the addition of executive staffing to support daily operations.
3. Expanding Program Influence
Promote Huntington as a vibrant, resilient community and highlight the Southside’s role in its revitalization.
Build partnerships with other neighborhood associations, nonprofits, and city organizations.
Create a signature event — such as Parade of Paws in the Park — to bring visibility, pride, and ongoing community engagement.
Why It Matters
The Strategic Plan ensures The Alliance stays focused on protecting property values, preserving the Southside’s historic and cultural identity, and fostering a safe, welcoming, and thriving neighborhood for residents and visitors alike.
